Hypoallergenic Pets

I was walking around NYC with my mum last night, waiting to go to a discussion with Alice Carter at the Society for Illustrators, when we walked into a pet store on Lexington and 62nd Street called American Kennels. My mum played with a small Chihuahua and I was handed a cat. My allergies to cats, or should I say cat dander, has become worse and worse over the years, but the nice man in a suit (only on Lexington would a pet store attendant wear a suit) told me that I would not suffer from allergies with this one. The cat was extremely friendly and had the softest fur you could imagine. It was a “Cornish Rex” and only cost $2000. Who would have thought a cat could cost so much? The Chihuahua was also only $3000, but was also very friendly.

I started to do some research on cats that do not mess with your allergies and I found this website. The cats range from $5,950 and top the charts at $31,000, although all pets do come with a FREE airline certified cat transporter. I would never have imagined that you could spend $1,000 on an animal and am always amazed at the price of French Bulldogs, but $31,000 is incredible. That means it would take the average Indian 66 years of labour to pay for the cat (according to 2003 per capita income of $470). This is what the cats look like (It seems the more expensive they are, the more vicious they appear) according to the website.

Allerca GD - $5,950

Chakan GD - $10,900

Ashera GD - $31,000

The cat allergen is a potent protein secreted by the cat’s skin and salivary glands. LIFESTYLE PETS has focused on a rare naturally occurring genetic divergences already present in cats that do no harm to the cats in any way.

And they also have a pretty nice looking hypoallergenic Dog for $21,000 and also a $135,000 German Shepard that is trained as a guard dog here. It seems that this company has specialised on preying on rich peoples insecurities and fear.
